Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Local Health Boards (LHBs)?

CCGs are clinically-led statutory bodies responsible for commissioning and planning health care services in their local area. They control around two-thirds of the NHS budget and have a legal duty to support quality improvement in general practice. There are currently 207 CCGs across England.

In Scotland and Wales, the same job is done by an LHB.

Mapping CCGs and LHBs

Mapping data by CCG or local health board allows charities, research groups and other organisations to highlight prevalence rates of disease and disparities in medical care across the UK. It’s particularly useful for promoting healthcare issues to the public or the press in a visually engaging way.
